May 31, 2003 – Grey clouds over Hardwood Hills loomed threateningly all day, but dropped nothing more than a sprinkle. Showers overnight were just enough to make roots slippery on the serpentine 11-kilometre course.
National Team member, Seamus McGrath (Haro/Lee Dungarees) took the level of competition up a notch in the Elite Men's race, powering to victory. Roddi Lega (United Cycle) answered the challenge and was only 1 minute, 45 seconds back, which was good enough to put him in the leader's jersey. Peter Wedge (Kona) took third.
Karen DeWolfe (Orbitz) put the hammer down and won the Elite Women's race by almost six minutes. Sandra Walter (Marin Canada/Shimano) rode to second place, despite a mechanical. She now holds the Canada Cup leader'jersey. Danelle Kabush (GearsRacing.com) grabbed third.
Max Plaxton (GearsRacing.com) made it two Canada Cup wins in a row, solidifying his series lead. Mark Batty (3 Rox/Bay Cycle) trailed Plaxton by a minute-and-a-half and hung on to second place, while Jonathan Boulanger (Neste/Perigny), another minute back, finished third.
