May 17, 2003 (Bromont, Quebec) – The first race of the 2003 Canada Cup series dawned on a cloudless day with a high temperature forecasted at 28 degrees although patches of snow still lingered on the ski hill.

The course, a fast rolling 6.5 kilometres, was dotted with numerous soggy sections, quickly soiling racers` shiny new jerseys. The end of the loop featured a slick, rocky descent that preyed on fatiguing cyclists.

That didn`t deter Jesse Jakomait (Team Ontario), who won the elite men`s race by just over a minute over Roddi Lega (United Cycle) in second and Greg Reain (GearsRacing.com) in third.

Marie-Helene Premont (Oryx) set the pace immediately, leading from start to finish winning the women's elite race by almost eight minutes. Sandra Walter (Marin/Shimano) took second followed by Heather King (GearsRacing.com) in third

In the junior men`s race, Max Plaxton (GearsRacing.com) had a similar plan of attack. He led from the gun and won by over four-and-a-half minutes over Jamie Lamb in second and Jean-Nicolas Lavertu who was third.
