May 30, 2006 – Women’s National Champ Adrienne Miller (BC, Devinci-Daredevil) and Luke Kitzanuk (QC, Giant) rose to the occasion Sunday, May 28 at Mont Tremblant, Que. to take the elite women’s and men’s Canada Cup DH #2 wins. Marie-Pier Alix (QC, Spin Sport Inc.) and Hans Lambert (QC, Independent) won the junior women’s and men’s races, respectively.
Caroline Milot (QC, Independent) and Sheila Morris (ON, Gravitesse) cruised into second and third spots. With two wins in two weeks, Miller leads the series with 400 points.
Luke Kitzanuk (QC, Giant) was fastest down the 1.5-kilometre course. Dominick Ménard (QC, Devinci-Daredevil) trailed the Quebecker by only two seconds, with B.C.’s Stuart Couper (BC) only another two seconds behind. Kitzanuk, who placed third at last week’s Canada Cup at Bromont, Que., continues to wear the leader’s jersey with 355 points.
Marie-Pier Alix (QC, Spin Sport Inc.) won her second Canada Cup race in a row in the junior women’s category. Unfortunately she was the only competitor in the category in both events, which means she does not receive Canada Cup points.
Hans Lambert (QC, Independent) has a perfect record so far in the junior men’s series after racing to victory at Bromont and then again at Tremblant. His time of 4:42.570 would have landed him in 14th position among the elite men. Lee Boeyen (QC, Privateer Racing) was nine seconds back and took second place. Simon Paquette (QC, Independent) clocked the third-best junior men’s time. Lambert is the undisputed series leader with a full 200 points.
