August 27, 2008 – The Canada Cup MTB DH Finals took place on the weekend at Sun Peaks Resort near Kamloops, B.C. with the last of the series’ three events. Micayla Gatto (Can) Commencal/Marzocchi of West Vancouver, B.C. won the Elite/17+ women’s race, followed by Rebecca McQueen (Can) Summit Gravity of Whistler in second, and 18-year-old Miranda Miller (Can) Marin Bikes/ Mad March Racing in third. Australia’s Alan Crisp (Aus) won the Elite/17+ men’s race by a mere 3/100th’s of a second over Kevin Bartkowski (Can) Cove/SRAM of Whistler. Andrew Mitchell (Can) Cove/SRAM finished third.

The riders with the top two of three events took home the overall series title. With two victories, Gatto cleaned up in the Elite/17+ women’s category to win the series, while Mitchell cinched the Elite/17+ men’s title.
