Canada Cup #1 – Downhill

May 19, 2003 (Bromont, Quebec) – The downhillers were sweating at the top of Bromont's ski hill and it wasn't just because of nerves. The sun beat down, creating a sauna-effect under their full-face helmets and body armour.

Mathieu Laurin (Balfa Cycles) descended the rocky course like a drop of sweat rolling down someone's face: smooth and fast. He won the Elite Men's race by nearly five seconds, despite an injury to his hand during training the day before.

In the Elite Women's race, Danika Schroeter (Simon's Bike Shop) was on fire, destroying her competition by over 25 seconds. Justin Brown (Dropmachine.com) turned it on put six seconds on second place in the Junior Expert Men's race.
