March 18, 2007 – The Quebec-based Calyon/Litespeed team, one of Canada’s three continental squads, is currently conducting a training camp near Paris, France. Calyon/Litespeed also hopes to participate in three amateur races: Paris-Troyes (Sunday, March 18), the Loire-Atlantic Classic (Friday, March 23) and the Roue Tourangelle (Sunday, March 25) – races that are open to all continental teams.
On March 18 (today), Calyon/Litespeed will be racing against such teams as Roubaix Lille Métropole, Bretagne Armor Lux, Auber 93, Team Moscow Star (Russia), Atlas Romer’s Hausbäckerei (Germany), CC Polsat (Poland) and Team Designa Kokken (Denmark). Although some members of the Calyon/Litespeed team have already raced in Europe, this will be their first time competing as team against other pros.
Team captain, Erik Lyman, has already raced in France. Charly Vives, Maxime Vives, Phil Cortes and Ryan Belliveau are also on familiar ground in France while Greg Reain, Canada’s 2006 cyclocross champion, has competed in Europe many times as well.
Team member, Maxime Vives said, “Compared to last year, everything has changed and is better now. For our first race in Arkansas in 2006, we had to drive 24 hours from Montreal!”
Calyon/Litespeed is sponsored by Crédit Agricole that owns Calyon.
