Calling Prospective Ontario BMX Promoters

release by the OCA

January 18, 2010 – As part of our annual program review we undertook an in depth look at the Ontario Cup BMX events in the province. The series is highly ranked in Canada but despite gradual participation growth we don’t attract the numbers we should based on our population base in Ontario.

One of the outcomes was to look into having the series operated by an event promoter that would be responsible for the promotion and operation of the series. Promotion of the series beyond the existing BMX community is considered key to growing the sport. A successful ramp up to the PanAm games might be the catalyst for increasing participation and awareness in the sport of BMX. Growth in participation will result in better competitive opportunities and improved funding for the sport.

I am seeking preliminary expressions of interest from those that have the capacity to successfully promote and manage the Ontario Cup BMX series.

Please provide the following information:

– Contact Information
– BIO
– General outline of Proposal (including: Structure, Key elements for success, Quality of programming, Growth of the sport, Sponsorship plan)
– Benefit to the OCA (including: Revenue sharing, Payback to the tracks)
– Measurement of Success

Please provide the information to me in confidence by email execdir@ontariocycling.org by January 25, 2010.
