July 4, 2004 (Calgary, Alta.) — Things looked positive for Canada’s Dustin Adams (Giant) when he qualified in 10th place for the men’s World Cup downhill, but things didn’t go well for him as the course conditions got sloppier and more churned up as the day wore on. He finished 59th, while the top Canadian result of 13th was logged by Derrick Chambers.

The man of the day, however, was David Vazquez Lopez (ESP, Maxxis-MSC). He slogged (conditions didn’t allow for anything more than that) down the course the quickest. His teammate Markolf Berchtold (BRA, Maxxis-MSC) of Brazil fought his way to a second place finish ahead of Brit Steve Peat (Team Orange), who finished third.
