July 2, 2004 – Today marks the start of the second UCI/MTB World Cup in
Canada in as many weeks. The 4-Cross event will get things going at Calgary
Olympic Park, and the well- Cross Country race will be staged on
Saturday. The Downhill is set for Sunday. The Cross Country is vital to
determining the remaining Olympic spots for both the men and women, so it
should be a hard-fought battle. On the men’s side, look for Geoff Kabush
(Maxxis), Seamus McGrath (Haro), or Roland Green (Trek-VW), looking to
impress. Don’t discount the young star Max Plaxton (Rocky Mountain/Business
Objects) to break into the top-ten this week, after a fine showing at Mont
Ste-Anne.

On the women’s side Alison Sydor (Rocky Mountain/Business Objects) must be
keen to show off her current form, as is Marie-Hélène Prémont, who just
signed with Rocky Mountain/Business Objects and had a great performance at
Mont Ste-Anne. Kiara Bisaro and Trish Sinclair both with Gearsracing.com
