January 8, 2008 – The Canadian Association for the Advancement of Women and Sport and Physical Activity (CAAWS) has developed an assessment process to identify best and promising programs/services for increasing participation in physical activities, exercise and/or sport for low socioeconomic status women 25-45 years of age.
We are looking for physical activity interventions:
– that have been evaluated and show evidence of effectiveness or Promising interventions which may have an impact on client outcomes but have yet to be rigorously evaluated.
Through our various networks we have heard snippets of information about successful efforts and programs that many of you have made within your communities. Many of these efforts and programs have not participated in any formal evaluation process, but have merit and impact on improving the physical activity and healthy eating practices of low socioeconomic status women. We need help from you to put us in touch with representatives from these programs. Programs will be assessed and the end result will be a collection of best and promising practices to assist health professionals and health educators working with the low socioeconomic status groups across Canada.
Please download the pdf here and complete the table and return your suggestions to CAAWS using the fax or email information provided by January 22nd, 2008. For each program, identify a contact that will be able to provide detailed information about the program you have suggested. You can nominate your own programs or someone else’s program. Feel free to suggest as many programs as you wish.
