Business Of Sport Summit

February 25, 2005 – Some of the top business executives and sports personalities in the world will provide ideas, practical advice and solutions on how companies can access and participate in the business of sport at a the Business of Sport Summit to be held at the Victoria Conference Centre March 7-8, 2005.

“With the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games coming to BC, we have a phenomenal opportunity to showcase our province,” said Roger Skillings, President and CEO of PacificSport Victoria, presenter of the Summit.

“This Summit is aimed directly at businesses and sporting organizations in the Greater Victoria area that want to take advantage of the economic opportunities offered with the hosting of provincial, national and international sporting events on Vancouver Island, and throughout BC, now and in the years ahead.” The Summit starts with a dinner featuring keynote speaker John Furlong, CEO of the Vancouver 2010 Organizing Committee. On March 8, delegates will participate in breakout sessions featuring Bob Ackles, President and CEO of the BC Lions Football Club, Olympian Alison Sydor and Paralympian Andrea Holmes, and internationally-renown sport architect Bob Johnston, partner of CannonJohnston Architecture.

“This unique event is for manufacturers, law firms, coaches, retailers, advertising professionals and everyone in between,” added Skillings. “Attending this Summit will give you an inside track to prepare your business for working with events that BC will host in the years to come.” The business of sport is represented by many types of sporting events, all providing business opportunities for direct sales or through sponsorship as a way of aligning your product to a specific market. In the lead-up to the 2010 Olympic & Paralympic Games, Victoria and the Island will be host to an increasing number of sporting events. – 2007 UCI BMX World Championships, Victoria
– 2008 North American Indigenous Games, Cowichan

Conference registration fees of $150 (plus GST) for Greater Victoria and Saanich Peninsula Chamber of Commerce members and $195 (plus GST) for all other delegates, include access to all sessions, keynote addresses and social functions (Monday dinner & reception, Tuesday lunch).
