BTAC Grant Program Update

October 30, 2007 – Members of the bike industry are likely aware of an organization or grassroots effort to enhance cycling in Canada, and whether it is in your backyard or some remote corner of the country, BTAC wants to help! So please pass this application on to those groups and individuals who can benefit most from the industries support.

The Bicycle Trade Association of Canada’s NEW Grant Program is available for facility, education and advocacy projects nationally. BTAC will consider funding projects that have significant potential for changing behavior, and that have measurable success. “The BTAC Board of Directors has been working very hard over the past ten months to refocus our objectives. We are taking a bold step and with a new mission to change the culture in Canada to become a cycling nation. The BTAC Grant Program is one of many new initiatives that BTAC is announcing in 2007,” stated Janet O’Connell, BTAC Executive Director.

The criteria of the BTAC Grant Program will give priority to projects that advance BTAC’s mission. “Creating and building on relationships between grassroots projects and local specialty bike retailers is a cornerstone of this program, therefore the BTAC Grant Program is encouraging that connection as part of the criteria” commented Paul Nielsen, BTAC Past-President.

The BTAC Grants will be announcing biannually in January and July with the first deadline to apply on November 30, 2007. Applications for the program are attached and are available on BTAC.ORG under Grant Program.
