Bromont Launches 2006 MTB Season

May 16, 2006 – Join us in Bromont on Victoria Day weekend for garanteed fun! Both the Quebec and Canadian competitive moutain bike seasons will start on May 20th and 21st in Bromont. More than a thousand competitors, aged from 10 to 65, will take part in L’Invitation Internationale INTERSPORT de Bromont. This first competition of the season, the second most important in North America, will be presented by CYCLES LAMBERT with the collaboration of DEVINCI. Over $25 000 in prizes will be given out during the weekend.

On Saturday, May 20th, the Canada Cup C1 and Quebec Cup cross country race will be presented by TIME. Racing begins at 8:30 am. The elite riders take to the course in the afternoon (at noon) and the day will end with all the sport category riders at 4:00 pm.

On Sunday, May 21st, the downhill riders take to the hill. This Canada Cup C2 and Quebec Cup level downhill race starts at 9:00 am, and is presented by ROCK SHOX.

At the same time, a twelve hour endurance race will take place from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm. The “ENDURO HYDRAPAK DE BROMONT” aims to determine which participants, individual or in teams, are able to do the greatest number of laps of a 6 KM mountain bike course carved out of Bromont’s legendary terrain.

Don’t miss this international level event in Bromont this weekend. Some of the top riders in the world will be there, including Mike Northcott of New Zealand and several others, as well as many top local riders. Raphael Gagné, two time Canadian Champion, will be present, as well as George Edouard Duquette, Mathieu Laurin and Marie Claude Surprenant.
