September 2, 2006 (Montreal, Quebec) — Bromont Cycling Centre’s cycling season is far from over. The centre, which offers facilities and training for BMX, road, track, cross-country, downhill, and group cycling, has outdoor activities on until November. These programs include camps, training sessions and sport-study programs.
Some programs address youths from 12 years and up while other target adults and others still are designed for families with children as young as eight years old. Fees vary widely from $14 to $220, depending on the program and whether accommodation and meals are included. Some fee reductions are offered for registrations received before September 8.
Indoor facilities include a velodrome – used at the Olympics in Atlanta and brought to Bromont afterwards – and stationary bicycles. The Bromont Cycling Centre claims to have the most complete facilities in North America. The sport-study programs are offered in collaboration with Massey-Vanier High School in nearby Cowansville.
Bromont is about one hour east of Montreal on Quebec Highway 10. A downhill ski station operates on the 1,770-ft. mountain in winter.
