April 8, 2004 – Going into Sunday's Boat Street Criterium in Seattle, the Symmetrics boys knew they would be facing a challenge. With the intense race schedule of March completed most of the team opted for a rest weekend before heading south to begin the US racing circuit in the latter half of April.

Three Symmetrics riders decide to take the trip to Seattle to contest the Boat Street title despite being outnumbered by the majority of other teams. Symmetrics' Min Naruki-Van Velzen, Cam Evans and Marsh Cooper figured they still had a decent shot at victory. The Boat Street Criterium is one of the biggest early-season races for the Pacific Northwest region. Most of the US-based teams were sporting full squads – each hungry for the win.

The field was surprisingly deep with Jittery Joes pro Jonny Sundt, ex Prime Alliance and Health Net pro Russell Stevenson, ex Prime Alliance pro Ryan Miller and North West strongman Kenny Williams.

The pace from the start was very fast and aggressive with attacks being launched left and right. Marsh did his best to jump with everything, but the pack was not willing to let anything go away. As the Symmetrics riders continued to cover all the moves it became obvious that the race would come down to the final few laps. In the end Russell Stevenson ended up rolling off the front with a few laps to go. Symmetrics rider Cam Evans was fourth with his lead-out train Naruki-Van Velzen finishing seventh. Not quite the ride the Symmetrics guys were looking for but all in all not a bad day at the office.
