January 30, 2007 – Yep, the Velodrome, spandex, curly bars and road helmets are now a regular part of the weekend dress code for Chris DaSilva, Corey Walsh, Glen Cressman, Tyler Simpson, Caleb Sharpe and Kyle Pearson.

This past weekend DaSilva, Pearson and Walsh took part in the Can-Am-Que Challenge and came away with some great results.

Chris and Kyle finished in the top 4 in the flying lap qualifier. Corey Walsh did fantastic on a really low geared bike.

Kyle went onto ¼’s and Chris to Finals in the Jr. Sprint Tournament.

Kyle then raced a 15 lap scratch race and earned a hard fought third.

The banks of the velodrome are 50 degrees and the only safety equipment you have is your helmet — they even wear spandex cycling shorts (under their bmx shorts of course) and Chris has taken over 1.19 seconds off of his flying lap in the last 2 months; Kyle has taken .90 seconds and Corey 1.06 seconds. Also training on a regular basis but not racing yet is Tyler Simpson who has taken 1.5 seconds off of his flying lap. Way to go Boys!

January 21, 2007 – It’s over. Two exciting event-packed days of indoor track racing at the Forest City Velodrome. The goal of the FCV Association is to develop youth in the sport of cycling and these two days have shown that the plan is working. The junior men and women are showing remarkable improvement with each race.
