August 4, 2003 – Last weekend in Perth Australia the BMX Worlds 2003 were held July 25-27, 2003. Canada did fabulous with Airdrie, Alberta's Samantha Cools winning the Junior Women's class, beating her closest rival by three bike lengths. Full report to come.

Friday, July 25, 2003 – Cruiser Jeff Ingram – 1,3,3 4th in the semi 7th in the main after falling on the first  double Patrick Lebel – 1,1,1, 1st in the semi, 3rd in the main Samantha Cools – 1,1,1, 1st in the semi, 1st in the main Tory Nyhaug – 1,1,1 1st in the semi 7th in the main after falling in the last  corner while in 3rd position

Saturday, July 26, 2003 – 20 inch Tory Nyhaug 1,1,1, 1st in the semi 1st in the main Patrick Lebel 1,1,1, 1st in the quarters, 1st in the semis, 7th in the main after falling in the first corner

Sunday, July 27, 2003 – Junior Women Samantha Cools 1,1,1, 1st in the semi, 1st in the main beating out Kim Hayashi by three bike lengths.

The Canadian team, lead by Head Coach John Cools and Jeff Ingram, set a precedent by having Sam remain in the Canadian pit area until she was required at the gate, borrowing from strategy employed in both MTB and Track cycling disciplines. It proved extremely successful and competitors and officials alike didn't know what was going on.
