February 29, 2004 – We are pleased to announce the introduction of the BMX Event Management (BEM) a computer software program developed by Lyndon Downing of Australia, specifically for the running of both large and small BMX races to Canada.

Mr. Downing has been invited to Canada to deliver a couple of courses on April 3-4 and April 10-11, 2004. The first weekend course will be delivered at the ABA Provincial Championships in Lethbridge, AB. This course will be done in conjunction with this event and will be offered to a limited number of CCA and PSO staff and volunteers working at the sport event and management level. As this will be an actual hands-on practical participants will be required to have an initial working knowledge of excel, access and preliminary knowledge of the BEM. Participants would also be required to bring their own laptop with at least a Pentium II and Microsoft operating system.

On April 10-11, a second course will presented in Calgary in a class room setting geared towards new users and track operators. The April 10 seminar will be from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and focus on the operating system. April 11 will be from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and have an emphasis on exploring the many cool features of the BEM and how to utilize it to enhance your event.

At the completion of both courses, participants will be supplied with the BEM software and an operations manual.

The cost of either weekend seminar is $100.00 per participant. All participants will be responsible for their own transportation, accommodation and meals.
