June 25, 2019 (Sarnia, Ont.) – Bluewater International Granfondo (B.I.G.) a signature cycling event for all levels starts and finishes at Mike Weir Park in Sarnia, Ontario along the shores of scenic Lake Huron. Sold out every year since inception. In 2018 voted top 3 in Ontario – top 6 in Canada by Granfondo Guide.

Bluewater Jersey 2019 aAll riders will have four routes to choose from 30K, 50K, 100K, and 150K each with its own start time specifically designed to avoid mass start anxiety and allow riders of all routes to finish within a reasonable time of each other. B.I.G. utilizes timed sections this allows for competitive juices to flow while keeping a focus on safety. Again riders will be able to challenge themselves against the awesome Toronto Hustle which has emerged as one of Canada’s most prominent cycling teams at any level– garnering attention from the biggest pro-cycling outfits across North America.

Upon finishing riders can cool off with a refreshing swim in Lake Huron, enjoy a well deserved Cowbell Craft beer or soft drink along with some very tasty food while relaxing to live music courtesy of Offsite Impact, one of Lambton County’s finest 5-piece Rock and Roll bands.

B.I.G. is proud to host Ontario First Responders Road Cycling Championship (OFRRCC). First responders are committed to their community and to their teammates. This event will give them an opportunity to showcase their dedication to the sport of cycling while taking part in a terrific community event.

Their ride consists of B.I.G.’s 100km route with three timed sections (7km, 2km and 9km) which can be raced if desired. After each timed section regroup, ride together, and enjoy the support of B.I.G. Riders will be award with both age group (under and over 45) Male and Female and team awards. OFRRCC is open to active and retired sworn and civilian members of the police, fire and paramedic communities. The unique format allows First Responders to enjoy a casual ride or to “ride to win”. We anticipate OFRRCC will be an excellent compliment to B.I.G. making Sarnia a special Canadian cycling weekend destination for both riders and fans.

A Pre Event Dinner will be held at The Sarnia Dante Club on the evening of Saturday 3rd August with guest speakers Alex Steida First North American to wear the YELLOW JERSEY and and Hunter Allen Legendary cycling coach, co-author of Training and Racing with a Power Meter and Cutting-Edge Cycling co-developer of TrainingPeaks’ WKO+ software, and founder of Peaks Coaching
