February 26, 2004 – On Sunday, May 2, 2004 Bike New York – the Great 5 Boro Bike Tour – will have 30,000 cyclists from around the world embark on a 42-mile bike tour
through all five boroughs of New York.
Olympians will lead the way as cyclists embark on a recreational tour that kicks off the start of the spring season, while generating excitement for New York's bid for the 2012 Olympics.
For over a quarter of a century, Bike New York has provided cyclists from around the world with a unique way to experience New York's history and culture. It began with just 250 participants and has since become one of the nation's most highly-anticipated springtime traditions.
