Beyond the Valleycliffe of the Dolls (BVOD)

May 21, 2006 – So, year five for BVOD. This event continually evolves and this year is no different. What started with ‘Double Dog Dares’ and grand prizes at massage parlors has flowed into truly the perfect mountain bike day.

Originally created to encourage those who enjoy epic freerides to join our local bike club and raise money for Search and Rescue, the event is simply a deluxe group ride on technical mountain bike trails you’d never find on your own. We hike-a-peddle up five peaks of the granite in Squamish’s Valleycliffe neighborhood.

Race Director Bryan Raiser is happy to report the return of the fruit booth. “Half way it’s like an oasis where we can feast on delicious fruit and refreshments. The only change to the event is that the more technical sections will no longer be judged ‘Double Dog Dares’. This year it’s nothing but a pleasure cruise where the official line is the easy line and everyone is encouraged to know and ride within their limits. Of course like all epic rides should, it ends with an after party at the Brew Pub (minor’s welcome) including specials and literally mountains of great prizes. The prizes are actually incredible with all the great sponsors definitely going all out making this event shine.”

This year, like years previous, it’s classified as a SORCA group ride so all Cycling BC Affiliated clubs are invited to partake. (hint*join your local bike club!)

The course is weather dependent but either way it’s five peaks of “˜the goods’

Trails included are Five Point, Maker, Labor of Love, Pipe Trail, Rampage, Cougar Ridge, Joint Effort (plus connector trails)

Riders should have armor, bike club insurance, and be comfortable on technical trails.
