February 28, 2009 – We have just learned that two BC Superweek events, the Tour de Gastown and Giro di Burnaby, will not be held in 2009 due to the difficult economic times but the Tour de Delta (July 10-12), and Tour de White Rock (July 17-19) will be staged and the intention is for the other events to be back again in 2010.

According to the BC Superweek committee all prize money for Delta and White will remain the same and both events, which bookend the fabulous Superweek, are in good shape for 2009 and the possibility of bringing in a 5th community for 2010 has also been discussed. There are rumours of possible attempts to keep Gastown going in 2009 and unofficially we also understand that Harris-Roubaix, the traditional round #1 of the Road BC Cup Series in early April, has also been cancelled.
