October 29, 2007 (South Surrey, BC) – Here are the results from Saturday’s BC Cup Cyclocross #5 in South Surrey. Thanks to SORCE for putting on a great event. The day was chilly, but riders warmed up quickly on the 2.5km loop that kept racers on their toes with constant direction changes, off-camber grassy sections, high-speed barriers, twisty single track descents and a very steep run-up/ride-up (depending on skill and level of fatigue).

A challenging but flowing 2.5km course that offers many transitions including a good balance between road, grass and hardpack gravel trails. Each lap includes a 250m road climb, 3 off camber grass sections, a set of barriers, a short but steep dirt run-up and plenty of tight corners to test your handling skills and sprinting power.

Directions:
From Vancouver

Go south on 99, take exit 10 onto King George Highway, turn right onto 148th St, go up the hill and turn right on 20th Ave, take the next right at traffic circle entering South Surrey Athletic Park, take next right at traffic circle turn left into parking lot

From the US (10min from Border)

Enter Canada at either the Pacific Highway or Peace Arch crossings, and follow the signs to White Rock, then to King George Highway, turn left at the traffic lights for 20th Ave, follow 20th Ave for about 5 min past 148th, take the next right at traffic circle entering South Surrey Athletic Park, take next right at traffic circle turn left into parking lot

Note that the 24th Ave entrance into the Park will be closed

– 8:30 am registration opens and closes 30 Min before each start
– 9:30 Short Course Kid’s Race (10 yrs old and under)-FREE
– 10:00 am Men C 30 Min
– 10:01 am Women B 30 Min
– 11:00 am Men B 40 Min
– 11:01 am Women A 40 Min
– 12:00 pm Men A 60 Min

– Youth Racers 11-15 can also race for free in the Men’s C/beginner group
– Mountain bikes are allowed in all races except the Men’s A
– Awards to follow the last racer

Entry Fee:
– Day-of event registration only
– $25 for all racers, US riders need valid UCI license, domestic USCF licenses will not be accepted
– One-day licenses available for non-licensed riders
