November 17, 2006 – Many of us have been looking forward to the Cycling BC Annual Awards Gala, set to be held November 23rd at the UBC Boathouse. It is with great regret however, that Cycling BC must postpone this event until a later date.
Many of us have been looking forward to the Cycling BC Annual Awards Gala, set to be held November 23rd at the UBC Boathouse. It is with great regret however, that Cycling BC must postpone this event until a later date.
This year’s event featured a catered meal and upscale venue, therefore numbers had to be set well in advance and tickets purchased a week before the event, something that was not required in past years. Still wanting to keep ticket prices in the same range as previous years, minimum numbers had to be enforced. Regrettably, as of Thursday morning ticket sales were extremely low, and we had to come to the difficult decision that we would not reach the minimum ticket sales requirement by Friday, November 17th — the last day to purchase tickets.
Cycling BC would like to thank everyone who was dedicated to the event and purchased tickets in advance. Our sincerest apologies go to the award recipients, and ticket holders looking forward to celebrating with friends and family on the 23rd. The event has not been cancelled, so much as postponed, and we will take a second look at the event, and create a celebration that everyone will want to attend.
I understand that the decision to postpone may not be the most favorable option for anyone who was planning on attending, and we sincerely regret any inconvenience occurring from this unfortunate decision. The 2006 Award Winners will be announced on the website, in our bi-weekly newsletter and honored at the awards ceremony to be announced at a later date.
Thank you for your understanding,
Cycling British Columbia
