November 8, 2006 – According to news reports in Italy, 2006 Giro winner Ivan Basso will be riding for the American team Discovery in 2007. Discovery, reeling from a mediocre Tour de France with the loss of 7-time winner Lance Armstrong who retired, has reportedly signed the Italian, despite his involvement in the Operacion Puerto affair. Basso was exonerated recently by Italian Cycling Federation after they announced they were dropping all charges against him.
