December 29, 2009 (Loenhout, Belgium) – The holiday barrage of high-level cyclocross racing continued in Belgium today with the Azencross UCI C1 event in Loenhout, Belgium. The battle for the “King of ‘Cross” title is fierce between the top riders, and this time is was Sven Nys (Bel) Landbouwkrediet-Colnago who prevailed, with Niels Albert (Bel) BKCP-Powerplus having to settle for second, followed by Zdenek Štybar (Cze) Telenet-Fidea Cycling Team in third. Jamey Driscoll (USA) Cannondale-Cyclocrossworld.com was the top North American in 22nd. Daphny Van Den Brand (Ned) ZZPR.NL won the Elite Women’s competition, followed by World Cup leader Marianne Vos (Ned) in second, and Sanne Van Paassen (Ned) ZZPR.NL third.

Tom Meeusen (Bel) Telenet-Fidea Cycling Team kept up his winning streak in the U23 Men’s ranks, while David Van Der Poel (Ned) Isorex Cycling Team took the Junior Men’s victory. Canada’s Karl Hoppner (Can) finished 43rd.
