September 21, 2006 – Austrian U23 rider Marco Leonardo Oreggia tested positive for the blood booster EPO when the Austrian Federation conducted random tests on its team last week and confirmed today the positive result. Oreggia will most likely not be competing with the team at Saturday’s U23 Road Worlds race.

His positive test result follows the disappearance of two other team members, Markus Eibegger and Christian Ebner before they were due to undergo testing earlier this week. Oreggia has a week to request a B sample test.
