January 15, 2008 – Austria’s Interior Ministry is now investigating the Humanplasma lab based there according to ARD, the German TV channel. This news follows on the heels of a WADA claim that the lab was involved with blood doping for athletes reports AP. ARD says about 30 athletes (2/3 from Germany) received transfusions at the Vienna blood lab, but Humanplasma’s co-director, Lothar Baumgartner, claims the accusations are unfounded.
