Audrey Lemieux Sidelined by Phlebitis

March 25, 2007 (Chicoutimi, Quebec) – After her recent decision to engage in a lighter 2007 race schedule, Audrey Lemieux (Team Expresscopy.com) has been forced to stop activity due to phlebitis in her left leg.

Last weekend, Lemieux felt persistant pain in her left leg and after a visit to an emergency room in Granby, Que. a doctor diagnosed her phlebitis. Lemieux will seek the advice of a specialist in the coming weeks to receive more information about the cause of this injury.

Rehabilitation: Lemieux presently receives regular injections to brighten her blood and avoid any complications such as pulmonary embolism. She is presently forced to complete inactivity for at least two weeks before gradually restarting her training.

It’s unlikely Lemieux will be competing again for the next three months. “The doctor strongly recommend to avoid participation to any race due to the risk of crashing which could cause an important hemorrhage given my present blood condition,” said Lemieux.
