October 23, 2003 – This is a reminder to all cyclo-cross riders in regards to the additional rules for the Provincial Cyclo-Cross Championships to be held Sunday, November 30th at Albion Hills. These additional rules will be strictly enforced. For a complete list of series rules please download the Cyclo-Cross Booklet in the Cyclo-crosssection of the website.
The Provincial Cyclo-Cross Championship race will be open to all riders (as per general eligibility), however, only Ontario residents who hold a UCI licence or an OCA Citizen Permit are eligible for medals. All riders are eligible for prizes.
Jerseys Riders must wear their club jerseys. No trade team or pro jerseys allowed.
Provincial Cyclo-Cross Equipment Rules Master, Junior and Cadet riders are permitted to use any MTB, road or cyclo-cross bicycle.
All categories except Master, Junior and Cadet categories shall adhere to the CCA rules regarding bicycle equipment regulations. Of particular mention are the following: a) CCA rule 1.3.012 states: A bicycle shall not measure more than 185 cm in length and 50 cm in width overall. b) CCA rule 1.3.018 states: For the cyclo-cross bicycle the width of the tire shall not exceed 35 mm and it may not incorporate any form of spike or stud. Note that most MTB bicycles do not meet either of these criteria due to the handlebar width and the tire width. Please refer to the CCA rule book for the complete set of equipment rules.
Espoir and Elite Men and Women must use a cyclo-cross bicycle.
For riders who have questions or concerns regarding these additional rules, the commissaire will conduct a “mock” inspection of these rules at the “Not the Dundurn” Cyclo-Cross event (Sunday November 9th) to help determine if you bike is eligible.
