Speed Warp Cycling

Mike’s Bike Shop Cycling Club and the Atlantic Cycling Centre, Dieppe co-hosted the Speed Warp Prologue and Road Race on Aug 2-3. The prologue, originally scheduled for the Caisse populaire Dieppe Velodrome had to be rescheduled for the road due to wet conditions on the velodrome. Fastest time for the day in the prologue went to 16 year old Stuart Wight riding for Mike’s Bike Shop Cycling Club. Prologue times were then used to seed the riders into two groups rather than the usual age and gender based race categories in an experimental grouping designed to make for more exciting racing.

Aug 3 the two road groups started their 40 km race on the hilly Pre d’en Haut circuit. In the A group the winner of the day was Stuart Wight of Mike’s Bike Shop Cycling Club, followed in second place by Adam Douthwright of the Radical Edge Cycling Club and third place was taken by Jean Richard Cormier also riding for Mike’s Bike Shop Cycling Club. In the B group the race was won by another up and coming 16 year old, Ryan S MacDonald of Pictou County Cycling Club, followed by Todd Mackenzie, independent rider from PEI and third place was taken by Jean Leger of the Mike’s Bike Shop Cycling Club.

Further BMX races are planned for August with more information on all races available at www.AtlanticCyclingCentre.com
