July 15, 2004 – It is a busy weekend coming up for the Atlantic Cycling Centre riders. The next few days will be crucial for the Atlantic Cycling Centre cyclists as many major events will take place. On July 18th, the best Canadian Mountain Bikers will face in Mont Ste-Anne for the 2004 Canadian Championships. For this event, our top riders will certainly be Matt Hadley, Jamie Lamb (espoir) and Karen DeWolfe (elite) who were all present at World Championships last year. Peter Wedge (elite) should also be back from illness for this event. Other Centre riders will be Ian MacAvity, Liam Atkinson, Daniel Comeau (both junior) and Marc Trussler (Cadet).

For the junior men’s road team, the challenge will also be great with the Tour de l’Abitibi. This junior World Cup is the longest event on the calendar. From Tuesday (20th) to Sunday (25th), these young guys will travel more then 600km at an impressive average speed of 44km/h! The selection was not easy for Centre Head Coach Luc Arseneau; it’s a sign that the level is getting higher and higher. The riders selected for this event are Zachary Garland, Ryan Belliveau, David Olscamp, Max Keeler, Michel Léger, and Ryan Taylor.

Two more riders will also be attending the BC Super Week where they will take place in three major events: Delta Grand Prix, Gasstown Criterium and Tour of Whiterock. These riders are Phil Cortes and Christian Meier.
