October 26, 2007 (Ottawa, ON) — AthletesCAN, an organization that represents athletes from all of Canada’s national teams, including Aboriginal, Paralympic, Pan American Games, Olympic and Commonwealth sports, will have its annual budget slashed from the current $650,000 to less than $300,000 by 2010 reports Sun Media. The organization, which also educates athletes about issues such as contracts, funding, use of their images and team selection, has consequently eliminated its CEO position. Funding for AthletesCAN is assured by Sport Canada, which made the funding cut decision.
