October 03, 2014 – Despite two positive tests from riders in less than a month – the most recent coming from Maxim Iglinskiy on August 11 and announced on Wednesday – Team Astana will not self-suspend itself from competition in the upcoming Tour of Lombardia as required under membership in the Movement for Credible Cycling (MCC) organization.
Member teams of are asked to suspend themselves from competition for eight days if two riders test positive within a 12-month period, however, this only applies after the riders confess or the B Sample is also positive, according to the MCC.
Iglinskiy, however, has requested analysis of his B Sample, so the squad has opted to continue competition.
Iglinskiy tested positive for EPO as did his brother, Astana’s Valentin Iglinskiy three weeks prior.
