Antoine Bedwani Passes Away

September 19, 2003 (Montreal, PQ) – After struggling with health problems for the past few years, Antoine Bedwani, a mainstay of Canadian cycling, has passed away at 71. For countless years Mr. Bedwani ran the the Espoirs de Laval racing program, developing countless riders at all levels. The warm and affectionate smile of Mr. Bedwani was often seen at almost every race in Quebec during the year, whether carting cadets to development races or managing top seniors at the Grand Prix de Beauce.

The list of cyclists that have ridden under Mr. Bedwani is unending, and will be a testament to his involvement in the sport in this country: Stever Rover, Roland Green, Genevieve Jeanson, Michael Barry, Andrew Randell, Czelaw Lukaszewicz, Alexandre Lavalee, Yannick and Guillaume Belzile, Peter Wedge, Yannick Cojan, Dominique Rollin…. the number of national and international champions goes on and on. The family of Mr. Bedwani will be holding a private funeral in Montreal. Our sincere condolences to his family and friends.
