The 27-year old rider from Luxemburg, 2010 Tour de France champion and second in 2009 and 2011, didn’t compete in this year’s edition of the Tour de France. He was injured in a serious fall during the Critérium du Dauphiné in June, he suffered from a facture to the sacrum, which kept him out of the “Grande Boucle”.
He will make his racing comeback at the USA Pro Cycling Challenge from August 20 to 26, before taking part in the Québec City and Montréal Grands Prix Cyclistes, followed by the World Championships held in the Netherlands on September 23, and two WorldTour races in China next October.
“This program will suit his best racing style,” said Johan Bruyneel. In 2011, Andy Schleck withdrew from the Québec City and Montréal Grands Prix Cyclistes because of dental problems.
