July 19, 2003 – Amy Maher, London Centennial Wheelers, was the lucky winner of the Gabicce Mare Draw prize at the recent Midweek C.C. CHIN Picnic criterium. This fabulous prize, donated by Romeo Alberico of the Canada Cycles Italy Touring group, won an eight-day cycling holiday next Easter on Italy's beautiful Adriatic Coast and includes air fare, ground transportation and accommodation and meals at the  Hotel Michelacci.

Maher is 24 years old and just starting M.Sc. degree at the University of Western Ontario in London. She started out racing triathlons, but after a chronic running injury, decided to start cycling only and completed her first road race in the fall of 2001. In the spring of 2002 she joined the London Centennial Wheelers. It was a learning year and in the fall she started working with road and track coach Steve Karpik in Toronto. This year, she won bronze in the Olympic sprint team race at the Quebec provincial track championships and is looking forward to competing at the Ontario road provincial championships in early August, as well as the national track championships later in the month.
