May 20, 2011 (Solvang, CA) – Canada’s Tara Whitten (Tibco/To the Top) finished 6th as Kristin Armstrong (USA) Peanut Butter & Co/Twenty12 claimed the inaugural 24km Women’s International Time Trail Challenge at the Amgen Tour of California held before the men’s event. Amber Neben (USA) HTC-Highroad, who flew in from the Chrono Gatineau the day before, was second with her teammate Charlotte Becker (Swe) in third. Canada’s Rhae Shaw (Hagens Berman Cycling) placed 8th.
