AMD and HP Extend Collaboration with the Lance Armstrong Foundation

June 12, 2006 – AMD (NYSE: AMD) announced today the next phase of its successful initiative with HP to support the Lance Armstrong Foundation (LAF), a non-profit organization dedicated to inspiring and empowering people affected by cancer.

AMD and HP, working closely with the LAF, in June 2005 launched the HP Special Edition L2000 Notebook PC series, based on AMD Turion 64 mobile technology. This one-of-a-kind consumer notebook PC series bears the LIVESTRONG message and a reproduction of Lance Armstrong’s autograph.
Beginning in early June 2006, the popular initiative will extend to new HP Special Edition L2310CU notebook PCs, to be available via an exclusive engagement with CompUSA. For every notebook that is purchased, the LAF will receive $150. The decision to extend this initiative and increase the previous amount from $50 was based on the desire to accelerate financial support for the LAF and its mission to promote public health, advocacy, and cancer research.

To date, AMD and HP have delivered more than $2 million to the LAF through sales of the HP Special Edition L2000 notebook PC, powered by AMD Turion 64 mobile technology. Additionally, through the Power to Inspire campaign, AMD and HP created “25,000 Strong,” a collage of photos submitted by people wanting to share their visual interpretations of LIVESTRONG. In support of this program, AMD and HP will deliver $25,000 to the LAF.
“Empowerment plays an important role in battling cancer, and technology provides a tool for patients and their loved ones to take control by arming themselves with information,” said Chris Cloran, vice president, AMD Mobile Division. “The success of the notebook is not just about the commitment of two companies to contribute to a worthy cause, but serves to illustrate that many notebook buyers embrace the opportunity to choose an outstanding notebook PC product and simultaneously support people touched by cancer.”
Demand for this notebook has exceeded expectations; the HP Special Edition L2000 notebook PC series was CompUSA’s strongest-selling product during the 2005 back-to-school season.
“CompUSA is honored to be the exclusive retailer for this unique notebook and to be a part of the campaign to raise money and awareness for the LAF,” said Brian Woods, executive vice president and general merchandise manager, CompUSA. “We expect to continue the momentum and deliver strong results for the LAF.”
“AMD’s generous sponsorship of LAF events and technology donations enable us to deliver crucial support and services to our constituents,” said Mitch Stoller, CEO of the Lance Armstrong Foundation. “We greatly appreciate our relationship with AMD as it continues the initiative with HP in support of our mission to inspire and empower people affected by cancer.”
