June 26, 2007 – All 28 T-Mobile Team riders have signed the new UCI anti-doping charter. That was confirmed on Tuesday by T-Mobile Team technical director Luuc Eisenga. As well as the riders, the team’s management have also signed and sent theri letters to the UCI.
Sprint talent Mark Cavendish and FdJ’s Sandy Casar were the first riders to sign the commitment when it was launched in Geneva last week. By signing, the riders commit to providing DNA samples if requested and to pay a year’s salary if they are found to have used illegal doping products, in addition to the usual suspension they would face.
Linus Gerdemann. “I think it is a step in the right direction. What the cycling world needs is to have more trust. At the T-Mobile Team we stand for anti-doping, so there was never any doubt that we would all sign it.”
All the 600 ProTour cyclists are invited to sign before July 7th. Those riders who have currently signed are listed on the UCI’s website here.
