March 28, 2011 (San Dimas, California) – Team Juvéderm-Specialized-Mazda rider Lex Albrecht captured 1st place in the young rider classification at this past weekend’s San Dimas Stage Race. Albrecht took over the jersey on the 2nd stage road race and went into the final stage in a precarious position with four riders just 12 seconds or less behind her in the U25 standings.
The Montreal-based Albrecht attributed her defence of the jersey to strong riding on the part of her teammates who helped ensure that none of the riders within striking distance were able to gain time in the intermediate sprints.
Victory in the young rider’s competition is a strong start to the season for both Albrecht and the first-year UCI Team Juvéderm-Specialized-Mazda.
Albrecht is the Quebec Criterium Champion and won the Tour of Syracuse last year as well, also riding an all-day breakaway at the National Road Race Championships.
Juvéderm-Specialized-Mazda will contest the upcoming Redlands Bicycle Classic, March 31st through April 3rd, where they will be joined by team rider Denise Ramsden who missed San Dimas due to school commitments.
