January 20, 2013 (Devon, Alberta) – On Saturday, February 23, 2013 the Devon Bicycle Association will be hosting the 2nd annual Blizzard Bike Race, a winter race featuring Western Canada’s first fat-bike specific category. This new bicycle design has become very popular among cyclists for snow riding. The race will be held in Voyageur Park in Devon, Alberta, and will feature categories for all skill levels and bicycle types.
“Last year’s Blizzard Bike Race was the first winter race in Alberta, and we’re looking to build off that momentum,” said race co-organizer Evan Wishloff.
The Blizzard Bike Race will offer two separate distances for each category, offering something for beginners and advanced cyclists alike. “The two categories can expect to be riding for roughly 30 minutes or an hour depending on which distance they register for,” added Wishloff. This annual winter race is hosted by Devon Bicycle Association and reinforces Devon’s “Bike Town” branding.
