April 23, 2007 (Lethbridge, Alberta) — There were no Surprises at Alberta XC opener as pleasant temperatures and a physically demanding course greeted 107 riders Sunday at the Coulee Cruiser, the kick-off event of the 2007 Alberta Mountain Bike XC Cup.

As expected, Mical Dyck (Trek/Terrascape) and a returning-to-form Roddi Lega (United Cycle) dominated the Elite categories, each defeating the competition by several minutes.

The Elite Men’s category did feature some close racing, albeit for second place, with Dallas Morris (Team H&R Block) finishing ahead of Brian Bain (Cyclemeisters/Bow Cycle).

The course, winding up and down the coulees of the Oldman River Valley in Lethbridge, featured few technical challenges but did include several lung-busting climbs which forced many riders to dismount, followed by swoopy single-track downhills.
