October 15, 2008 – Here is a preview of cyclocross races coming up this weekend in Alberta, including Team H&R Block’s Cross for Kids on October 18, and Deadgoat and Schmoe Racing’s Blow Street Super Cross on October 19.
Cross for Kids – October 18
Mark your calendar for October 18th! TEAM H&R BLOCK presents the first annual “˜Cross for Kids’ Cyclocross event. A portion of the proceeds from this race will go towards the Kids Cancer Care Foundation of Alberta. Please support this worthy cause by attending the event. This race will be hosted at Canada Olympic Park, one of the premier Cyclocross venues in our province. COP offers riders a varied terrain course including three “˜lobes’ that all return back to a central location near the day lodge. This will make it an excellent venue for spectators.
Blow Street Super Cross – October 19
Deadgoat and Schmoe Racing will present the 1st Blow Street Super Cross on October 19th. The 2.2km course, snaking through Blakiston Park (directly behind the Calgary Co-op at 4122 Brentwood Road NW, Calgary), will test the top-end fitness and absolute power levels of racers. The course is relatively flat and will feature some long fast straight-aways and plenty of pavement. You can pretty much guarantee a fast, tactical race. Make sure you don’t miss this great race – more information is available in the technical guide here.
