April 04, 2013 (Alberta) – The Alberta Bicycle Association is excited to announce our newest cycling program dedicated 100% to Alberta Youth – Trailblazers Youth Racing. 2013 will mark the inaugural season of this exciting new program that will introduce youth of all skill levels to competitive Cross Country Mountain Bike racing. Youth of all ability levels aged 16 and under are invited to give racing a try – whether they are a first time racer or a seasoned vet, this series will offer a race for everyone.
The format is simple:
– Events will happen on a 1-day basis (weeknights and/or weekends)
– Riders will be given the option to race one of 4 different course offerings of increasing difficulty
– Race registration on-site
– Low entry fees
– Open to EVERYONE – no ABA membership required for your first race!
The series will follow a regional format, completely separate from the Alberta Cup Provincial Series. For 2013, the series will pilot in two of Alberta’s major cycling regions – the “Capital Region” encompassing Edmonton and surrounding area, and the “Kananaskis Region” spanning from Canmore as far as Calgary. Youth from all regions are invited to attend.
Stay tuned in the coming weeks for a full listing of 2013 events.
