Alberta Bicycle Association and Pedal Sign 3-yr Agreement

January 21, 2008 – Kipp Kauffmann, Executive Director of the Alberta Bicycle Association (ABA) announced today that the Association had entered into a three-year agreement with Pedal Magazine to publish the Association’s member handbook. The ABA is excited at the prospects of such a relationship as it is the means by which to communicate more effectively with both the membership and the community at large.

ABA members will receive the handbook in the mail with a copy of the spring issue of Pedal Magazine, copies will be delivered to all of the Alberta BMX clubs for their members, and copies will be available at all local bike shops. In addition, Pedal will be producing posters to be distributed to bike shops outlining the 2008 Alberta racing calendar.

By making the ABA Handbook available beyond the immediate membership the ABA hopes to reach out to recreational riders in the hopes that they will give racing a try. Alberta has an excellent infrastructure of clubs and racing available, no matter one’s age, discipline or skill level. This agreement represents a means to effectively communicate these options and opportunities with the public and we’re excited that Pedal has come on board to produce the handbook.

Pedal Magazine is known for the quality of both the content and aesthetic appeal of their publication and the ABA is excited that it can move forward to provide this same quality to our membership. The mission of the ABA is “To facilitate the introduction to organized cycling and develop a strong competitive cycling program while protecting and advocating the rights of cyclists.” The ABA believes that this agreement is one more step towards effectively realizing this mission.
