Garneau-Québecor UCI Continental Team Announces 2013 Roster

release by the Garneau-Québecor cycling Pro cycling team

April 12, 2013 (Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures, QC) – Louis Garneau, President of Louis Garneau Sports, and Pierre Karl Péladeau, President and Chief Executive Officer of Québecor, are pleased to present the 2013 edition of the UCI Continental Garneau-Québecor cycling Pro cycling team.

The team includes, among others, Captain Bruno Langlois, the excellent sprinter Rémi Pelletier-Roy, as well as new recruits Pierrick Naud, Simon Lambert-Lemay, Simon-Pierre Gauthier, Michael Woods, Alex Cataford and Americans Michael Chauner and Adam Farabaugh. Joining them for the second consecutive season are Ontarian Zachary Hughes and Quebecers Geoffroy Dussault and Jean-François Racine.

Garneau-Québecor is one of only two cycling teams in Canada to compete at the UCI Continental Pro level. This license will allow the team to participate in many renowned races such as the Tour de Beauce, the Joe Martin Stage Race in Arkansas, and the TD Bank Mayor’s Cup in Boston.

In fact, the team got off to a strong start by winning two stages during the Vuelta Independencia Nacional in the Dominican Republic, and claimed two podium spots at the Tampa Criterium in Florida. The racers are prepared and ready to tackle North American roads after a solid training camp in Florida.

“We are very pleased to sponsor Team Garneau-Quebecor, a team I am certain will inspire passions among fans and cycling enthusiasts again this year. If 2013 is anything like 2012, the season promises to be thrilling!,” declared Mr. Péladeau. “Our support towards the team is in line with our lifelong commitment towards excellence and the next generation of athletes. Collectively, we can be proud of these world-class champions,” he concluded.

The team’s development mission allows young talents to take advantage of a stepping stone to gain access to high level professional teams, in the manner of David Veilleux (Europcar) and Hugo Houle (AG2R), who were recruited by pro teams on the European circuit following their time with Garneau-Québecor.

Team Garneau-Québecor is the best team in Canada, both at the pro and amateur levels. You can follow the team and their results on Facebook HERE.
