November 30, 2012 (Vancouver, B.C.) – More breaking news from B.C. just prior to the Annual General Meeting suggests that the recent UCI BMX Supercross World Cup final held in Abbotsford from September 14-15 yielded an alleged $250K deficit for Cycling BC. And we’ve also been informed that board member Peter Lawless has resigned but apparently there will be no election this weekend for his position due to the short notice. Lawless was recently recognized at the Petro-Canada Sport Leadership Awards Gala, hosted by the Coaching Association of Canada.
Pedal also received two letters from stakeholders in the province, the first is from eight concerned players including sponsor Haywood Securities, who wonder about CEO Keith Ryan’s attendance, or rather possible non-attendance, at Sunday’s AGM; and the second is from a group known as the Future of Cycling in British Columbia which was launched in response to the turmoil and controversies plaguing cycling in the province first announced here.
