9th Annual Lake 2 Lake – Hall and Brown Win

June 18, 2007 – The 9th annual Tim Horton’s Great Lake to Lake MTB event went off on Father’s Day with close to 1,000 cyclists challenging the epic route from Lake Erie to Lake Ontario.

Winning the men’s 50km event in record time (1:46:06) was Waterloo’s Josh Hall (KHS) followed closely by Guelph’s Ramone Mira di Orduna and NY’s John Rodin. The leading trio separated in the much feared “whoop-de-doo” section along the Welland Canal, which was bone-dry with the local weather.

The women’s race was won by local Jenny Brown of the Sunflower squad which she also coaches. It was Brown’s second win with a time of 2:07:57. Maria Bottos of Port Hope and Carmen Sweet of Oshawa completed the podium.

A unique event with challenging trails and singletrack throughout, the finish is on the beach in Port Dalhousie where a catered meal, beer tent and massive crowd of cycling enthusiasts continued to cheer everyone in.
