April 18, 2019 (St. Jacobs, ON) – The 7th annual Steaming Nostril Race presented by the Cycle Waterloo saw 139 riders finish the main 65.8 km event on Sunday, April 14 and 34 riders complete the Runny Nose (44.6km). Gunnar Holmgren (Hardwood Next Wave) and teammate Robin Horsfield (Hardwood Next Wave) took top honours. With equal prize money for the top 5 overall men and women, this is the first year a 60+ woman Julie Rossall (Wild Bettys) finished the event.

Conditions started with rain and the the temperature dropped while the wind picked up significantly during the second half of the race. The course was set-up and finalized on Saturday in conditions that were nothing like race-day.

“The course was is mint conditions to the point that we walked the farm field in our running shoes. But what a spring day in southern Ontario can bring…from 16 degrees Saturday night setting up the start-finish line to brutal conditions of 1 degrees with rain and snow,” said organizer Blake Ellis.
